EXO and Winner Neck and Neck for Artist of the Year

Voting for the 2014 Mnet Asian Music Awards (MAMA) has been open for one week, and the polls are already on fire.

More than seven million votes have been cast by fans all around the world with 38.6 percent of votes piling in from Southeast Asia, 21.6 percent from China and 20 percent of Korea.

With artists currently competing in 17 categories open to online votes, the battle for Best New Artist has been heated, as Winner and GOT7 vie for the top spot.

As of November 3, Winner is in the lead with 38.4 percent of votes, while GOT7 follows in a close second with 37.5 percent of votes. But as seen over the course of the week, the ranking can flip at any moment.

But the competition for the UnionPay Artist of the Year has proved to be the fiercest so far, with EXO currently in the lead with 21.5 percent of votes, only 0.3 percent ahead of Winner, who stands in second place with 21.2 percent of votes.

Super Junior follows in third place with 16 percent of votes, GOT7 in fourth place with 15 percent of votes, while SNSD rounds out the nominees with 5 percent of votes.

Meanwhile, EXO also holds a strong lead in the UnionPay Song of the Year category for Overdose with 24.3 percent of votes, with Taeyang’s Eyes, Nose, Lips following in a distant second with 14.8 percent of votes.

The 2014 MAMA is set to take over Hong Kong once more on December 3, so keep the votes coming until then!
