Some 160 Korean idols will run down the track, shoot an arrow and kick a ball to show off their physical strength and athletic ability next week.
MBC’s biannual sports variety show “Idol Star Track and Field Championships” (translated title) announced Friday its 160 idol players for the upcoming episode set to show over Korea’s Chuseok Thanksgiving holidays.
Participating names include 2AM, miss A, Henry of Super Junior M, BEAST, INFINITE, MBLAQ, ZE:A, A Pink, Teen Top, B1A4, EXO and Crayon Pop.
The taping of the TV show will be at the Goyang Stadium and Gymnasium located in the city of Goyang, Korea next Tuesday. The Goyang Stadium will be used for the male and female track and field events and archery, and the Goyang Gymnasium for male futsal game.
Ten athletic boy idols are set to take on futsal, a 5 on 5 mini soccer game — namely BEAST’s Dujun, ZE:A’s Dongjun, 2AM’s Seulong and Jinwoon, VIXX’s Leo, EXO’s Luhan and Xiumin, INFINITE’s Sungyeol and Hoya, and solo artists Roh Ji-hoon and Gu Ja-myeong.
This year’s Chuseok holiday season falls between September 18 and 20, but the exact date it will go on air has yet to be confirmed.
Ever since its launch as a pilot show for the Chuseok holiday in 2010, the show has hit airwaves for two of the biggest holidays in Korea including Chuseok and Lunar New Year’s Day, in various formats including athletics, the high jump, swimming and archery.
